Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6. 

Week Commencing: 29th October 2018

Y3 have had lots of fun being chefs, preparing rainbow couscous.

RJS have been learning about the importance of friendship in their Topic work this week. 

Some of our Y3 pupils took part in a Remembrance art project at Haydock High. See the gallery for more images.

Year 6 had a lovely afternoon using watercolours to paint poppies ready for Remembrance Day.

Y5H have been working in groups to research planets from the Solar System.

Y5M have worked in groups to create posters all about the planets in the Solar System.

Y2PM enjoyed some problem solving activities.

Week Commencing: 15th October 2018

RJS have enjoyed collecting Autumn materials to recreate the main character from the story 'Leaf Man' by Lois Ehlert.

RCM enjoyed exploring the season of Autumn by going on a walk around the school grounds.

Y1RB have really enjoyed our 'Room on the broom' story role play activity this week.  

Y3K have loved mixing colours during their art lessons.

KS1 & 2 had a very enjoyable time watching and interacting with 'The Pop Project'. See our gallery for more photos.

Y5H have been using their new maths skills to complete some challenging puzzles.

Y2 children began their 'Steps To Summit' challenge of walking the equivalent distance of The Three Peaks.

Y1JL have been working really hard on their number bonds to 10 this week. They enjoyed using cubes to work out simple additions.

Y3F enjoyed using the school's outdoor space to learn more about soil formation and how compost is made.

Week Commencing: 8th October 2018

RJS have enjoyed finding 'one more' and 'one less' than a given number outside of the classroom!

Congratulations to our Y6 touch rugby team who won the St.Helens Primary tournament.

Nursery children listened to the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Then they searched for different coloured fallen leaves. 

RCM have enjoyed doing some work on the rhyme 'Wheels on the bus' this week. They loved working as a team to build their own bus outside.

Y4F have enjoyed using drama techniques to portray different characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. 

Y5 have been practising their 'push passes' in hockey.

Year 6 loved meeting ex-miners from our local area. They really got a feel of what is was like to be a miner.

Y4F loved foraging in the school garden for things to use for our clay nature designs.

Mrs Hill's English class have been working hard to include co-ordinating conjunctions and adverbs in their writing.

Y3K have been working on Purple Mash creating different codes.

Working in groups the children from Y2PM created futuristic maps of Haydock.

RNC loved working in teams to build our own buses, which we then used for a range of role play activities.

Y2SC used O.S. Map symbols on their group maps.

Week Commencing: 1st October 2018

RJS have been working hard in Maths this week, finding out about addition and the different ways we can partition the number 5!

Nursery children went on a Bear Hunt and explored the school grounds. 

Y3F really enjoyed looking at some real fossils.

Y3K used the I-Pads to research and compare different dinosaurs.

Well done to these children for winning the most Dojo points in Year 4D.

Y5M have taken a journey into space to learn about the movement of the Earth.

Y6H loved using charcoal to draw mining artifacts.

Nursery children found a Bear in the forest. 

Y5H have been creating their own Islamic patterns.  

Year 1 enjoyed going on an Autumn walk this week.

Y6 had two teams representing Legh Vale at the St.Helens Primary football tournament. Well done boys!

Y2PM explored the school grounds identifying human and physical features of the environment.

Y1JL have been learning about place value in Maths and enjoyed using deines to make up their own 2 digit numbers.

Y6M loved exploring coal mining artifacts. We handled a real-life miner's lantern, coal miners made out of coal and even observed photographs from the early 1900s.
