Year 4 Summer Term 2021

Euros 2020

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Summer Term 2021

To celebrate England competing in the football tournament, the children have been looking at the continent of Europe. They have explored the different flags and have been researching their chosen country further, looking at languages, climate, currency and even listening to the national anthems! They have then created a presentation to share their research. A real team effort!

Competition Winners!

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Summer Term 2021

Earlier this year, all KS2 children from across the borough were invited to take part in an art competition #BetterthanthatCrew, organised by St.Helens Council. We are very proud to say that two of our Year 4 children won 2nd and 3rd place prizes of vouchers for 'Toast' in Dentons Green. Well done, Jayden and Reece!

Sports Day

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Summer Term 2021

This week each Year 4 class took part in our Sports Day event. Throughout the morning the children participated in a range of throwing, running and jumping activities. The children had a fantastic time and it was lovely to see everyone trying their best and having fun. Check out the gallery for more pictures.

Exploring Food Webs

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Summer Term 2021

This week, we have been exploring food chains and food webs. First, we created simple food chains and then sorted ourselves into groups of producers and consumers, herbivores and carnivores, and predator and prey. Next, we created links between the different organisms to show how energy is transferred and created a food web. Finally, we used our food web to explore what happens when a component is removed and how that affects the other organisms.

Orienteering

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Summer Term 2021

All the children in Year 4 worked in small groups to locate many signs across the outside areas across the school. They used map reading skills and their positional language from their Maths and English lessons to describe the locations. It was a great afternoon enjoyed by all.

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Spring Term 2021

Over the past three weeks, Year 4 have had a virtual visitor, Martyn, from St Helens Health and Well-being Services. We have been sharing our ideas with him and learning more about balanced diets, regular exercise and the importance of a good night's sleep.

Money, money, money!

Steph Hill (stephhill) on: Year 4 Spring Term 2021

This week, as part of our PSHE work, we have explored the subject of money. We discussed what it is, how it is used, where it comes from and how to keep it safe. One of our activities was to think about where we can keep our money safe. We arranged our ideas in order from the least safe to the safest place. At each stage we debated our thoughts and ideas.
