Year 1 Blog
Spring 2022
A brief look at what the children have been learning this term.
Spring 2022
Ooh Arrggghhh!!
Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Spring 2022
This week, the children have been reading pirate stories and have started work based on the story The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Duddle. They have loved sharing what they know about pirates, learning some pirate names, creating their own pirate and making predictions about a story. We all loved it when the pirates had left a treasure box for us with a book to read which Seadog Forber read to us all.
World Book Day
Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Spring 2022
What a day! All children looked amazing and loved every second of their day. Thank you to all parents for your support. There were some strange staff members though!
Working hard
Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Spring 2022
The children have been working very hard to understand how numbers are made.
They have been using Base 10 to build numbers up to 50.
Year 1 Superstars!
Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Spring 2022
It's been another fab week here in Year 1 and all children have been working super hard. In English, children were introduced to story maps where a collection of pictures help them to re-tell a story. The children loved putting actions to these pictures. In art, the children have been experimenting with line.
What a wonderful week!
Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Spring 2022
All children have been working hard this week and learning lots. In Maths, they have been adding by making 10, writing lots of lovely descriptions for the story Giraffes Can't Dance and have been wonderful artists by producing abstract pictures inspired by the Brazilian artist Beatrice Milhazes.
Merry Christmas from all of Year One!
Autumn 2021

Jen Leicester (jenleicester) on: Autumn 2021
