Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.

Week Commencing: 28th January 2019

Mr Howard getting ready to tackle the snow!

RJS have had fun learning about road safety this week! 

Y1RB have really enjoyed comparing and contrasting London skylines through Art.

This term in Y5M, we have been learning how to perform different jumps. We have worked on the benches in groups in canon and unison.

Y3F have really enjoyed their gymnastic lessons this week.

In Maths, 1JL have been using cubes to help work out the answers to subtraction problems.

Nice to see a headteacher hard at work !

Year 6 loved improving their gymnastic skills in PE.

In Art, Y3K have been working on their own Stone Age cave paintings.

RNC did a super job of sequencing 'The Three Little Pigs' and enjoyed role playing the story.

Y2PM have been perfecting their jumps in preparation for gymnastic sequences over the next two weeks.

Year 6 enjoyed editing each others work in English.

Week Commencing: 21st January 2019

RCM have enjoyed looking at different materials this week after reading the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. They worked together to make their own house of bricks. 

RJS have enjoyed reading 'The Three Little Pigs' this week. They have done lots of fun activities surrounding the story, including designing and constructing their own houses and learning about the durability of different materials. 

Y3K enjoyed getting to look at and hold a range of wildlife. They learnt a lot about vertebrates and invertebrates.

Y1RB have really enjoyed using non-fiction books to write animal fact files. This work was inspired by our English story, 'Giraffes can't dance.'

1JL made jam sandwiches to help with their instruction writing. All the children said they were very tasty!

Y5M carried out a test to see which material was the best insulator.

Y5M produced news reports on the main Muslim Festivals with Mrs Wright.  They did a fabulous job.

Y2PM went back in time to 1666 to complete their diary as if they were Samuel Pepys.

RNC have been working really hard in Maths this week, they even created their own number games using different resources.

Congratulations to the KS2 winners who designed some amazing posters to promote positivity and respect in school.

Welcome to our new friends who have joined us in Nursery this week.

Week Commencing: 14th January 2019

Year 4 loved the 'Wild Workshop' where we learned about the characteristics of different animals including spiders and mice. 

In Science, Y5M have been testing materials to see if they are soluble or insoluble. What super scientists !

RCM enjoyed investigating ice in our Science lesson. They were excited to discover that salt helps to melt the ice.

This week in PE, RJS have enjoyed travelling in different ways over equipment. 

Year 5 have been using spaghetti and marshmallows to build 3D shapes.

Year 4D have been finding equivalent fractions in Maths and some children even had a go at being the teacher!

Y1RB have had lots of fun in Music. The children have been using musical instruments to make their own rhythms and beats.

Y4F enjoyed playing addition and subtraction games this week.

Nursery children had great fun taking turns playing a Super Hero game. 

Nursery children helped each other count the spots on the dice then moved their figure along the number line. 

As part of their English topic, Y5H had an exciting lesson, following instructions to bake cakes.

Y2PM had fun making Tudor houses.

Year 4D made their dream catchers and added their aims for the year on them.

RNC loved doing our first science experiment.  We found out that salt melts ice!

Week Commencing: 7th January 2019

This week, RJS have learnt all about different emotions and how to deal with them. 

Nursery children enjoyed using the apparatus in the Ks1 Hall. 

Y2PM explored beat during a music lesson.

Year 1 have had a very exciting first week back as the children discovered that a very messy tiger came to tea in the staffroom! The children really enjoyed reporting the events in the Legh Vale newspaper.

RNC made beautiful snowflakes this week.  We are hoping for some real snow very soon!

Nursery children moved along, climbed over or under benches and jumped off a box. 

In Science this week, Y5M have been carrying out tests to see which materials are the most absorbent.

Y5M learnt about five key festivals of Islam with Mrs Wright.  They then played Pictionary to consolidate their learning.

Y5 enjoyed keeping fit whilst following the 'Supermovers' videos.

Y3K have been learning about the human skeleton. In groups they had to piece together a skeleton jigsaw. They did very well.
