Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.

Week Commencing: 18th March 2019

Y1RB have enjoyed writing predictions using an illustration for our new book, 'The Bog baby'.

RCM enjoyed learning all about dinosaurs this week. They even made their own fossils using salt dough.

RJS have loved pretending to be Paleontologists this week during Topic. They have even created their own dinosaur fossils! 

The School’s health team visited the Y6 children to discuss keeping healthy, harmful substances and emotional wellbeing. 

Year 5 have been comparing our minibeasts in the Legh Vale grounds to creatures in the South American rainforests. We loved finding ladybirds, slugs, woodlice and centipedes. We also spotted a toad !

Y3K have worked hard creating their own mosaics this week.

Week Commencing: 11th March 2019

RJS have helped Billy the Bear with his halving problem this week! 

RCM have been working on 'halving' this week. They enjoyed working together to solve different number problems.

Y1JL thoroughly enjoyed taking part in lots of science experiments this week. The favourite was the effect of a 'fizzing volcano' when they mixed baking soda with vinegar.

Y1RB really enjoyed carrying out lots of different experiments during 'British Science week.'

Y5M had a debate about whether they should only use technology for 2 hours a day and have a responsible adult with them.  The argument for this was higher than against!

RNC have been problem solving this week, working on halving to help Billy Bear with his packing.  He really appreciated their help!

Y6 produced some fantastic watercolour art based on the work of ceramic artist, Clarice Cliff.

Y5H had a fantastic afternoon dissecting lilies to help them learn about the life cycle of a flower. 

Year 5 had a fantastic morning at Haydock High, learning about Science and Technology (STEM). They showed super independence and group skills.

Y3K have been designing and making their own versions of Roman shields.

Paton was our special little visitor in Nursery this week. We talked about having kind hands as we observed her having a bath. 

The Nursery children enjoyed taking part in yoga activities. 

Week Commencing: 4th March 2019

Using handmade cardboard props,  the pupils of Y2PM recreated the Battle of Hastings. Take a look at the gallery for more photographs.

RCM had a fantastic time on World Book Day. Their costumes were amazing and they really enjoyed sharing some of their favourite stories with the Year 5 children.

1JL have loved dressing up for World Book Day 2019. They all looked amazing!

Year 5 are enjoying reading the Harry Potter series.

Y1RB love World Book day!

RJS have been doubling using Skittles this week. It was very yummy work!

Nursery children walked through Reception and KS1 showing off their costumes and admiring the other children's. The children applauded each other as they paraded around the KS1 Hall.

Year 3 enjoyed sharing a book with the Year 1 children.

Year 5 had a lovely morning sharing a story with Reception.

Look even our teachers joined in the fun for World Book Day!

Y5M Maths group have been working out the area of different objects and places in school.

RNC loved dressing up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day. They all looked fantastic!
