November 2020 Blog

Welcome to our school blog, here you will find a snapshot of events taking place at Legh Vale on a weekly basis from Nursery to Y6.

Week Commencing: 30th November 2020

Along with Y5K, Y5H have been creating their own ancient Egyptian death masks!

Y5K have been very busy designing and making their Egyptian death masks.

Year 3 have had fun exploring how reflection works this week.

Week Commencing: 23rd November 2020

This week in Science, Y5H have been learning about the phases of the Moon! We used Oreos to represent each stage and then created our own diagrams.

Year 5 pupils have been working together to look after our memorial garden. Some have painted remembrance rocks and placed them on.

Year 4 pupils are working so hard during their isolation with their home learning. Mrs Hill and Miss Downey are very impressed! Keep it up and we will see you back in school on Wednesday.

Children in Y5K thoroughly enjoyed their lesson on the phases of the Moon.

Week Commencing: 16th November 2020

Y5K have taken part in some great discussions on anti-bullying. They each designed their own sock with some very important messages on. I think our class favourite was, 'Be kind, Be happy, Be You'.

Y5H have enjoyed playing planet 'Top Trumps' in Science this week. We have learned lots of new facts!

Y2PM enjoyed sharing their differences on 'odd sock' day.

Y6 have thoroughly enjoyed 'Odd Sock Day' and exploring what makes us all unique as part of Anti-Bullying Week 2020.

Y4D pupils have been given a new job- designing packaging for chocolate. We have started the task by looking at the features and evaluating existing products.

Week Commencing: 9th November 2020

Y5H have been getting very messy in Art this week... We have created our very own ancient Egyptian collars!

Y6A have been learning about the place value of decimal numbers.

Y5K have been discussing the importance of Remembrance and Armistice Day. They created different pieces of art work based on the poppy and the poem Flanders Field.

After exploring the poem 'In Flanders Fields', Y4 pupils created their own remembrance bookmark using water colours and ink.

Week Commencing: 2nd November 2020

Year 6 identified the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy sources as part of our science topic, 'Electricity'.

Y5K have been working hard at both school and home on their Space topic. A fantastic effort, well done.

Y3 enjoyed exploring the properties of rocks.

Y4D pupils have been learning the computing language of Logo before programming their turtles to draw shapes using Purple Mash.

Y4D have been exploring the pointillism technique created by George Seurat. The children recreated their favourite chocolate wrappers in this style.
