Headteacher's Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents/Carers

As the very proud Head Teacher of Legh Vale, I am pleased to introduce our fabulous school to you. On this website you will find a range of information that is designed to help you understand how the school operates and also give you a feel for the school. I have also included a copy of the school’s most recent inspection report and it describes in detail the high quality of education that we provide here.

Ofsted judged the school to be ‘Outstanding’ in 2007, this was re-confirmed in 2011 and in 2015 under the new framework the school was judged 'Good' in all areas. This was re-confirmed in March 2019 – Ofsted said-

You and your staff are strongly committed to making a positive difference to the lives of pupils and families in the school community. With your leadership team, you have created a happy school where pupils feel safe and are eager to learn. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly supportive. Pupils also speak very highly of Legh Vale Primary School. They know that staff ‘really care’ about them and make sure that there are ‘lots of fun and exciting things to do’. ‘From the moment that they start the school day to the time that they leave to go home, pupils are encouraged to try their best. Their behaviour is exemplary in and around the school.

Legh Vale Primary School was the first primary school in the UK to be designated as an Early Excellence Centre (1999). Since 2005 the school has shared part of the site with Haydock Children's Centre, facilitating groups for the local community.

I hope you enjoy viewing the website, but nothing can replace personal contact or seeing the school in action!

Not currently due to Covid-19 restrictions, but during normal school times, an open invitation is available to everyone to visit Legh Vale at a mutually convenient time.

Yours sincerely

Andy Howard
